Abdallah S. Jum‘ah serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco).  Jum‘ah also serves on Saudi Aramco’s board of directors and on the Saudi Arabian Supreme Council of Petroleum and Mineral Affairs, chaired by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. 

Jum‘ah began his career at Aramco in 1968. He was elected vice president of Power Systems in 1981, and subsequently was named senior vice president and later executive vice president of International Operations. In 1995, he was named president and chief executive officer.


Under his leadership, the company has refocused its strategic direction to maintain its prominent position as the world’s premier energy supplier, and has made innovation a key component in the company’s strategic direction.

Jum‘ah has received world-wide recognition for his outstanding leadership. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Hankuk University in Seoul, Korea.   Among the many accolades he received, is the recognition in November 2007 of his accomplishments that led the Financial Times’ “Who’s Who:  Ten Top Powers to be Reckoned with” to rank Jum’ah as the top man in the oil industry.

Jum‘ah’s business affiliations include membership on the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum and the JPMorgan Chase International Council. Also, since 1998, he has served as a trustee of the American University in Cairo.

Jum‘ah studied political science at the American University in Cairo and at the American University of Beirut, and later completed the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
